What is This Blog all About and How Can You Contribute?

If we were to put it in one simple word- it is about GIVING. Since sentences and paragraphs are there for putting our ideas in more than one word, a little explanation may also help.

You know how difficult it is for a student in Ethiopia to learn about scholarship opportunities abroad or anywhere. This is because of any one of the following reasons:
1. Not many people in Ethiopia have the opportunity to spend many hours a day on the Internet, searching the Web for scholarship or funding opportunities. Thus, shouldn't you help by making it simple for any graduate or undergraduate student in Ethiopia to easily find all the relevant scholarship links in one place?

2. Many people know a lot of scholarship or funding sources but they do not know how to share them with other people. May be you are an Ethiopian student in a university somewhere and you know funding sources relevant to students from Ethiopia that you wish other students also knew this opportunity existed. This blog is the right place to GIVE this scholarship/ funding source information for free.

With two simple steps you can be GIVING a chance of a life time for someone in Ethiopia to study abroad.

1. Become a memeber on http://delicious.com/
2. When you find Web pages containing scholarship or funding links relevant for Ethiopian students, bookmark that page using delicious.com and using this blog's web address as a tag (copy and paste this for the tag: http://www.scholarshipsforethiopians.blogspot.com/). If you don't know what a tag is, don't worry because not many people do either. You will know what it means and how it is used once you join delicious.com.

The relevant link that you bookmarked on delicious will appear on this blog with your delicious user name alongside it in a few hours. You can additionally email the link to this blog to your friends for future reference easily by clicking on the envelop icon at the bottom of this blog.

Remember you could be changing someone's life for good by just doing the above and how happy you will feel after doing that!

Thanks for giving.

IITA Scholarships

The IITA scholarships are being offered for the last time this year. The deadline is fast approaching.

This is a Korean government Information Technology scholarship that offers a modest amount of stipend to people who would find admission at participating Korean Universities for Masters or Phd programs.

Here is the IITA website:
www.korea4u.org

One university that I know ready to offer admission to carry 100% of the tuition is Ajou University in Suwon, South Korea.

Here is Ajou's website:
www.ajou.ac.kr

or regarding admission:
http://wwwold.ajou.ac.kr/~saarc/english/

But since the deadline is already over for application of admission requests at Ajou, they would accept email applications on condition that you would send the related documents with in one week.

Send emails to the following address stating your interest to apply for the school of Information and Communication Engineering (after looking at the criteria on the web site) and attaching all relevant documents:
kikiro83@ajou.ac.kr

Good luck.

Please read more details about this scholarship opportunity and download the relevant application forms by following this link

The Erasmus Mundus Scholarship

The Erasmus Mundus Scholarship is a very generous scheme, especially for Ethiopians in my opinion, since you are not required to present English Language proficiency certificates as far as you have proof that the medium of instruction for your undergraduate was English.

Here is the link:
http://ec.europa.eu/education/programmes/mundus/projects/index_en.html

Note: You can apply to any of the scholarships listed on the page- the year of selection is not important, in my opinion.

Now, post one or two web site links that you know people (may be a friend) used successfully to apply and possibly get acceptance for a scholarship and send this blog's link to your friends. That way, your friends also get to contribute and only the information verified by you and your friends keeps growing and growing.

You should post by clicking the "Post a Comment" link at the end of this page which you may see only after you read the most recent post by clicking on its title the left column of this page.
